This is a song about the Great War that started one hundred years ago in the summer of 1914, better known as the First World War. Nationalism and imperialism kill, and we have 16 million bodies from the years 1914-1918 to prove that. The title of the song is taken from the British Foreign Secretary Edward Gray, who famously stated in his speech to the parliament in 1914 that "The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our life-time".
lyrics
Nationalismi vahingoittaa vakavasti sinua ja ympärilläsi olevia. 16 miljoonaa ruumista ei ole väärässä, nationalismi tappaa.
Euroopan lamput sammuivat.
Maailman lamput sammuivat.
Eikä niille löydy sytyttäjää, ei järjen valolle löydy sytyttäjää.
Imperialismi vahingoittaa vakavasti sinua ja ympärilläsi olevia. 16 miljoonaa ruumista ei ole väärässä, imperialismi tappaa.
On their debut record, the London hardcore upstarts cross-up mosh-ready fare with melancholic ambient passages, weeping guitars, and virtuosic vocal harmonies, but its romantic veneer is much more complicated than it seems. Bandcamp Album of the Day Jan 30, 2019
